Cops ID home invasion suspect killed in shootout

Officers from the T&T Police Service’s (TTPS) Home Invasion Team have identified the suspect killed following a home invasion in Valsayn on Monday and arrested a second teenage suspect. The deceased has been identified as Sharaz Samaroo, of Farm Road, St Joseph. Police also yesterday said they arrested another teenager from Farm Road, St Joseph, in connection with the incident. According to reports, the 17-year-old was the second minor held following the invasion at the Valsayn Avenue, North Valsayn home. Police said following his arrest, the teen was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was medically examined. The suspect was then taken to the Maracas/St Joseph Booking Centre, pending further enquiries. Police said bandits climbed over the wall of a family’s home just before 1 pm. Security camera footage of the incident, shared on social media, showed one of the men approaching, as other masked intruders stood near the doorway. The family’s dog, Nero, raised an alarm while the woman’s relatives came to her defence. Police later arrested two suspects, ages 14 and 22, of Farm Road, St Joseph, while Samaroo was later killed in a confrontation with police.
