Faith, fun and colour in Santa Cruz

2026-03-26 - 01:23

The LiveCurrent International Ministry, led by Trini-American First Lady Genola Clark and American Rev. Obadiah Clark, recently extended heartfelt thanks to Chapel on the Hill Church’s missionaries from Pennsylvania, for their collaborative participation in the ministry’s “beautification-plus” project in Trinidad. The visiting missionaries, led by Pastors Tim and Karen Farkas, were recognised for their love, dedication and generous commitment of time.Other participating missionaries included Cindy Monrean, Denise Hiles, Francie Milliron, Shae Aslmer, Katrina Wolbert, Joe Hanna, and Silas, Christine and Michah Clark. Pastors Chris and Judy Clark and Lael Clark had previously visited Trinidad, strengthening the partnership between the two ministries. Under the guidance of senior ministry leaders, the project included repainting the exterior walls and railings of the Gasparillo Community Centre on LP54 El Carmen Road, Santa Cruz. The team also improved the fencing and enhanced the landscape, with Michael and Shervon Honore playing key roles. The effort continued with a multi-faceted Kids Crusade for over 50 children, featuring worship, games, competitions and prize-giving. Six-year-old Kyle Junior emerged as the competition winner, while “year-round Santa Claus” Joe Hanna, of the Young Adult Ministry, kept the festivities lively. Abidah Khan, manager of the community centre, praised the ministry and missionaries, stating on Facebook that the “tremendous job done... has engendered a new sense of pride in the Centre, which strives to give service to the residents of Santa Cruz.” The Gasparillo Community Centre is viewed as a hub for the community. Besides hosting regular activities, it is available for rental for formal events. The LiveCurrent International Ministry, located at 29L Rambhaju Street East, Aranguez, San Juan, continues to expand its outreach, recognising the centre and surrounding panyards as valuable spaces for worship and community engagement. Since April 2025, the ministry has been conducting outreach programmes at the centre every third Saturday from 6–8 pm, providing transportation for 25 children and inviting parents or adults with vehicles to assist in expanding access. Additionally, the ministry hosts monthly night games and sports sessions on the last Friday of each month, from 4-6.30 pm. Their first panyard revival service was held at Fonclaire in south Trinidad, with further events, including Desperadoes’ celebrations, on the horizon. The ministry continually reminds children that “they are loved by God and not forgotten,” emphasising spiritual growth and community values. Teaching through service “Every month our ministry’s leaders and members take pleasure in teaching children the ways of the Lord through Jesus Christ,” First Lady Genola Clark said. “Children are taught to put their trust in God and walk in His ways, receiving reward through sincerity and consistency in serving Him.” Core principles of the ministry include fostering community, grooming children in faith, encouraging acts of kindness without expectation of recognition, and helping others—key components in enabling children to give glory to the kingdom of God. Weekly ministry programmes include Wall of Protection on Saturdays at 6 pm and H20 sessions on Tuesdays from 6-7 pm and 7-8 pm. A special fourth-anniversary service featuring Pastor Michael L Miller from Higher Purpose Fellowship, New Jersey, USA, is scheduled for April 18. Looking ahead to future visits, Rev. Obadiah Clark expressed hope that the ministry’s work will continue to benefit the less fortunate while glorifying the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ. The ministry also extended thanks to sponsors and community neighbours who contributed to the project’s success.
