Sascha Wilson Senior Reporter sascha.wilson@guardian.co.tt The brother of the murdered Cedros cricketer, Rashme Deoajit, is pleading with anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspect to alert the police. In a telephone interview yesterday, Satesh Deoajit, 30, said his sister deserves justice and is appealing to the public to help them. Yesterday marked eight days since her battered body was found in her home at Tatt Trace in Granville, but the suspect is still at large. Rashme, 28, a sales merchandiser, was well-loved in her community, a member of Players Sports Club, and was the only girl and youngest child amongst three siblings. The suspect, who was well known to her and her family, had been staying at her home. She was last seen arguing with him around 8 pm on March 16. On March 17, her father and brother, who live nearby, heard her phone ringing inside her home. Entering the home through a window, her brother discovered Deoajit’s body on a bed. An autopsy revealed she was beaten on her head and strangled, relatives said. Deoajit told Guardian Media he has been receiving information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, but doesn’t have access to a vehicle to go in search of him. “I think people are hiding him,” he said. “Is justice I really want for Rashme because she give that guy a lodging in her house. He cook and eat and stayed.” Deoajit said his sister never complained about any disagreement she may have had with the suspect, but the money she was going to use to repair her car, almost $5,000, has not been found. “She did not deserve that. I believe people hiding him because people talking in the village,” he said. He said everyone has been trying to cope with her death, but their lives would never be the same. “She was the life inside of here,” he said. Homicide Region 3 officers are investigating.
