Farley labels Tobago wells vandalism as domestic terrorism

2026-03-29 - 15:25

STEPHON NICHOLAS Senior Reporter Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has described the vandalism of critical wells in Tobago as bordering on domestic terrorism. According to reports, between March 27 and 28, vandals cut power cables at the Bloody Bay, Arnos Vale, Bacolet and Claude Noel Highway wells. Augustine said this was a direct attack that has left 17 areas across the island without a consistent water supply. Areas from Crown Point to Parlatuvier have been affected, accounting for an estimated 2.1 million gallons of water lost per day. He said the THA is moving swiftly, with emergency measures being put in place to secure the remaining water infrastructure. In a media release yesterday, WASA said it will announce an emergency distribution schedule to mitigate the impact. An emergency media briefing was scheduled for 11 am on Sunday.
