Investigations ongoing into shooting of Penal labourer

Sascha Wilson ​Investigations are ongoing into the shooting death of a 25-year-old labourer in Penal yesterday. ​Collis Meade of Sunrees Road, Penal, died while undergoing treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital around 10:30 am. ​Meade walked with his 35-year-old common-law wife, his wife’s cousin, and a girlfriend along the S.S. Erin Road when a white car exited Batchyia Trace and stopped alongside them. ​The front seat passenger alighted and fired several shots at them, then re-entered the car which sped off. ​Meade sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Siparia Health Facility before being transferred to the hospital. ​Crime scene investigators retrieved eight spent shells at the scene. Investigators are still trying to ascertain why he was killed. ​Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
