The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has confirmed the safe recovery of 57-year-old Suraj Ramlakhan following a multi-agency, intelligence-led operation in the Central Division on Wednesday night. Ramlakhan was abducted on Saturday 14 March 2026, with a ransom subsequently demanded for his release. Police said the recovery resulted from coordinated investigative efforts and a targeted operation led by DCP Natasha George, ACP Richard Smith, and Snr Supt Anderson Pariman. Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Home Invasion Unit, and Northern Division Gang Unit focused their efforts near Roopsingh Road, Carapichaima, where intelligence indicated the victim had been seen. Systematic searches of a galvanized shed and adjoining vegetated areas were conducted, supported by the TTPS Air Support Unit, which used infrared drone reconnaissance under the direction of Ag. ASP Rampallard. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit subsequently recovered Ramlakhan, who was released between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm yesterday (March 18, 2026). The victim guided officers to the location from where he had made his way to relatives along Roopsingh Road, who alerted authorities. He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility for medical attention. Police said investigations are ongoing, under the direction of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
