One dead, teen among three wounded after Belmont attack

SHANE SUPERVILLE Senior Reporter A drive-by shooting in Belmont ended with the death of a 28-year-old man and the wounding of three others on Thursday night. Police said Kemar Miller also known as ‘Jamaikie’ was sitting on an empty beer case with three friends on Davis Street, around 9 pm, when a grey Nissan AD Wagon drove past them. The car stopped some distance away, as three masked gunmen got out and shot at the group. Miller died at the scene, while passers-by took the wounded trio to hospital. Police said two of the wounded men, one of whom is a 14-year-old boy, was shot in his chest and is in critical condition. The third, a 27-year-old man, is in stable condition and was shot in his right leg. Officers of the Port of Spain CID and the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) visited the scene and found nine spent 45 calibre shells and nine spent 5.56 shells. Officers of the Region I Homicide Bureau are continuing enquiries.
