Freelance Contributor The students of Palmiste Government Primary School showcased their creativity and scientific curiosity when they hosted their annual Science Fair on Thursday, January 22, at the school’s temporary home at the Edinburgh 500 Community Centre. This year’s fair was centred on an environmental theme, with students presenting projects that highlighted the natural world and the importance of protecting it. Exhibits focused on topics such as the water cycle, volcanoes, different types of animals, and various ecological systems, allowing students to demonstrate both scientific knowledge and hands-on learning through models, charts and interactive displays. Teachers praised the students for their enthusiasm and confidence as they explained their projects, reflecting the school’s continued commitment to academic development despite ongoing challenges. Palmiste Government Primary School has been operating from the Edinburgh 500 Community Centre since 2023, after a fire destroyed its original school building. Despite being displaced, teachers and parents said the successful staging of the Science Fair underscored the resilience of the school community and its dedication to providing meaningful educational experiences. The event also served as a reminder of the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability among young learners, even in the face of adversity.
