Teen arrested in North Valsayn home invasion probe

Officers of the Home Invasion Team arrested a 17-year-old boy of Farm Road, St Joseph, during an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday in connection with a recent home invasion at Valsayn Avenue, North Valsayn. Police said officers acted on intelligence that a suspect linked to the home invasion reported on March 16 was in the Bangladesh area of St Joseph. Officers went to the location and, after further enquiries, arrested the 17-year-old. In keeping with procedure, the suspect was cautioned under the Children’s Rules in the presence of his brother. He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was medically examined, before being taken to the Maracas/St Joseph Booking Centre pending further enquiries. Two suspects, a 22-year-old man from Port of Spain and a 14-year-old boy from St Joseph, were arrested on the day of the incident. A third suspect, who was armed, was shot and killed by police during attempts to apprehend him.
