Three people have been detained and items recovered during an anti-crime exercise in Sangre Grande. Police said the exercise, dubbed Operation Steady Guard, was conducted between 11 pm on March 25 and 3 am on March 26 by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, with support from senior officers. Officers responded to a report of larceny in progress at a housing development along the Eastern Main Road, Manzanilla. A watchman reported that three men were removing items from the premises and fled into a bushy area. Police said subsequent patrols led to the interception of a vehicle along the Eastern Main Road. Three male occupants were detained. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of armoured electrical cables, a panel box with breakers, a battery, a speaker box and tools. Police said the items are suspected to be stolen. The suspects remain in police custody as enquiries continue. Police said the exercise formed part of ongoing operations in the Eastern Division. Officers said the operations are aimed at reducing crime and maintaining public safety. No charges have been laid at this time. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said it will continue operations in districts across the division.
