A man and woman remain hospitalised after gunfire erupted in Belmont on Monday night, while a seven-year-old boy escaped with minor injuries. Police said a gunman opened fire on a white Nissan AD Wagon along St Andrews Lane around 9 pm. The 38-year-old driver was grazed to the head by a bullet. A 34-year-old woman, driving a white Toyota Corolla, was shot in the hand and back. The boy, who was in her vehicle at the time, suffered scratches to his hand but remained in generally good health, investigators said. Both injured adults drove themselves to hospital, where they were still receiving treatment up to Tuesday afternoon. Investigators recovered 26 spent 9 mm shells at the scene. Officers of the Port of Spain CID are continuing enquiries.
