Venezuelan woman rescued after Caroni kidnapping

A 20-year-old Venezuelan woman was rescued following a reported kidnapping near Kelly Village, Caroni, on Friday. Police said officers responded to a call around 1:00pm near Rainbow Supermarket. The 28-year-old informant pointed to a vehicle leaving the scene, shouting, “They now take my brother and them.” Officers intercepted a silver Nissan Tiida, registration PCL 1092. The occupants fled, leaving the victim behind. During the pursuit, one suspect allegedly pointed a dark object resembling a firearm at the officers. One round of 9mm ammunition was discharged in the suspect’s direction. Both suspects ran into nearby bushes. Police later detained a suspect and with the help of CDTF North officers, apprehended a second suspect. No firearm was recovered. The rescued woman, identified as a cashier at Rainbow Supermarket, was unharmed.
